Below are some general training tips for younger athletes.
- Always warm up. An active warm-up is best. Click here for an example of an active warm-up.
- Keep your training sessions short. Generally 20-30 throws per event are enough, and you should be able to do that in about 1-1.5 hours.
- Make every throw count! Concentrate for every throw, so take your time between throws – don’t rush!
- Don’t just throw. Make sure you sprint, jump and stretch, and you should also do some endurance work each week.
- Follow the rules even in training. That means no fouling! Do your best to save your throws.
