Training tips

Below are some general training tips for younger athletes.

  1. Always warm up. An active warm-up is best. Click here for an example of an active warm-up.
  2. Keep your training sessions short.  Generally 20-30 throws per event are enough, and you should be able to do that in about 1-1.5 hours.
  3. Make every throw count! Concentrate for every throw, so take your time between throws – don’t rush!
  4. Don’t just throw. Make sure you sprint, jump and stretch, and you should also do some endurance work each week.
  5. Follow the rules even in training. That means no fouling! Do your best to save your throws.
